If you would like to borrow a book or have a question about a book or publication we may have, please email the librarian, at <a href=\"mailto:ctorchidsociety@gmail.com\">ctorchidsociety@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A selection of books is available at most meetings for perusing and borrowing.\u00a0 Donations are always welcome!\u00a0 Bring your orchid related book or magazine to a meeting or contact the librarian.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a list of books recently added with a brief description.<br \/>\nThank you for looking!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-189\" src=\"http:\/\/ctorchids.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/draculas.jpg\" alt=\"draculas\" width=\"123\" height=\"144\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Draculas del Ecuador\/of Ecuador<\/strong>, \u00a0by Franco Pupulin, Gilberto Merino &amp; Hugo Medina<\/p>\n<p>University Alfredo Perez Guerrero (UNAP) and Ecuagenera Orchids of Ecuador, 2009<\/p>\n<p>COS purchased this new book for our library.\u00a0 Our library has little or no new information about the culture of Draculas and this very current, informative book will be of great use to growers who want to try the challenge of Dracs.<\/p>\n<p>A very big\u00a0thank you\u00a0to former Membership Chairperson Larry Kuekes, who has just donated his entire collection of AOS\u00a0<em>ORCHIDS<\/em>\u00a0magazines to the library.\u00a0\u00a0 This collection of magazines covers\u00a0 1980 through the present \u2014- three decades of valuable orchid culture information,\u00a0 photographs, awards and research.\u00a0<em>ORCHIDS\u00a0<\/em>magazine is the place to go for information about any known orchid on the planet.\u00a0 P.<\/p>\n<p>COS member Jim Michlewski has generously donated the\u00a0<strong>Orchid Species Culture Guide<\/strong>,\u00a0by Richard C. Heeseler, Orchid Mania , Wantagh, NY to our\u00a0 library.\u00a0 This 46 page guide contains culture information for more than 22,000 orchids.<\/p>\n<p>The guide is set up in a simple columnar format listing the genus name, species name and a culture code for temperature, water, food and light requirements.\u00a0 There is also a section for comments such as whether the plant should be grown in a pot or a basket\/slab.\u00a0 This section also indicates if the plant requires a rest period.\u00a0 I found the guide to be very helpful just because it is so easy and straight forward to quickly look up information.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ctorchids.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/wildorchids.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-188\" src=\"http:\/\/ctorchids.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/wildorchids.jpg\" alt=\"Wild Orchids\" width=\"116\" height=\"152\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ready to do a little daydreaming about spring?\u00a0 Here\u2019s a great field guide to all the wild orchids currently known in the northeast.<br \/>\n<strong>Wild Orchids of the Northeastern United States: \u00a0A Field Guide<\/strong>,\u00a0by Paul Martin Brown with drawings by Stan Folsom.\u00a0 I have used this guide myself to hunt for orchids in the northeast kingdom in St. Johnsbury, VT and found it very helpful.<\/p>\n<p>COS thanks Dave Tognalli for yet another generous donation to our library.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Connecticut Orchid Society\u00a0Library is open to all members.\u00a0 Please click here\u00a0COS Library Holdings for the link to see a comprehensive list of library holdings.
