{"id":2456,"date":"2025-08-01T07:20:51","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T11:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ctorchids.org\/?p=2456"},"modified":"2025-08-01T07:20:51","modified_gmt":"2025-08-01T11:20:51","slug":"august-10th-meeting-at-black-rock-state-park-will-be-our-annual-summer-picnic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ctorchids.org\/?p=2456","title":{"rendered":"August 10th meeting at Black Rock State Park will be our annual Summer Picnic"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Join us for our annual Summer Picnic at Black Rock State Park!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s6\">When:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<span class=\"s4\">Sunday\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">August<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"s4\">11<\/span><span class=\"s7\">th<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u00a010am-3pm \u2013\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">We are asking everyone to arrive around 11am for setup before<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u00a0a brief business meeting around\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s8\">11:30am<\/span><span class=\"s4\">,<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u00a0followed by a barbecue lunch and socializing.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s8\">The picnic is under a covered pavilion and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s8\">will take place<\/span><span class=\"s8\">\u00a0Rain or Shine<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s6\">Where:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s4\">\u00a0Black Rock State Park Picnic Pavilion:\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s9\">2065 Thomaston Rd, Watertown, CT 06795<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s10\">Directions<\/span><span class=\"s10\">:<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"s12\">From Route 8 north: take Exit 38. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp to first traffic light. Turn left at traffic light onto US Route 6 west. Park entrance is a 1\/2 mile on the right on US Route 6.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s12\">From Route 8 south: take Exit 38. Go straight ahead at the end of the exit ramp to US Route 6 west. Park entrance is on the right.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s12\">You can use 2065 Thomaston Rd for your\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s12\">gps<\/span><span class=\"s12\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s12\">The pavilion is<\/span><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0visible across the field from the Main Entrance and is<\/span><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0adjacent to the parking &amp; bathrooms. Very easy to locate<\/span><span class=\"s12\">, there should be staff at the entrance who can direct you if you have any difficulty finding the pavilion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s13\">Picnic Info:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s12\">The COS will be providing Hot Dogs and Hamburgers\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s12\">and we are asking that everyone bring a side dish, appetizer, dessert, or drinks to share. If<\/span><span class=\"s14\">\u00a0you are planning on attending please check your email for the signup sheet that Mary sent out to all the members, the link went out with the summer newsletter email.<\/span><span class=\"s14\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s14\">We need a rough headcount<\/span><span class=\"s14\">\u00a0or burgers and dogs<\/span><span class=\"s14\">\u00a0to plan food.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"s12\">If you are a member and want to bring a guest, please let us know so we can accommodate, there is a $5 guest fee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s12\">There are picnic tables at the facility, but we encourage you to bring your own folding chairs if you would like some<\/span><span class=\"s12\">thing a bit more comfortable.
