Hi All!
The COS is planning a display for the upcoming Deep Cut Orchid Society Show and Sale.
The show runs from Friday, 2/20 through Sunday, 2/22. Display setup for the show is Thursday, 2/19.
Cheryl Mizak has volunteered to do setup and breakdown for the show. We are always looking for more members to assist with show displays, if you are interested please let us know, this is a good opportunity to work with someone who has experience and potentially learn the ropes.
Here is a link to the show: https://www.deepcutorchidsociety.org/show
We’d like to have a nice display that showcases the blooming orchids of our members. So please let us know if you have any orchids that you would like to contribute to the display. Plants must be healthy and free of critters. And, of course, they must be in bloom except for what are called the jewel orchids which are grown primarily for their leaf patterns and colors (Anoectochilus. Goodyera, Ludisia, etc,).
Cheryl Mizak in Southbury will be collecting the plants from members. Arrangements must be made to get your plants to Cheryl by Wednesday, 2/18. Her availability is Tuesday 2/17 11am-2pm or Wednesday 2/18 11am-4pm. Make sure your plants have been properly watered as there will not be a chance to water them during the show.
The take-down crew will contact you after the show to make arrangements to return any plants you contribute.

All plants in the display MUST BE pre-registered. This allows them to be considered for show judging to win ribbons and trophies. It also allows the setup crew to create plant labels and plan the display ahead of time. This saves a lot of time on setup day.
Please register your plants yourself, the Plant Classifications, Registration Guidelines and Registration Form * are available at the following link: https://www.deepcutorchidsociety.org/show
Scroll down to the Plant Registration Instructions section of the page and click on Digital Plant Registration Form on the right
You can register until 12PM sharp on Thursday February 19th
**Please also include Cheryl and Christian on distribution when you email your registration form(s) so that plant labels can be made up ahead of time.
If you are unsure about registering your plants for yourself, Christian is willing to register your plants for you between now and Tuesday, February 17th
Send both Cheryl and Christian an email that includes the name of the plant(s) based on your plant label so that Christian has it no later than noon on Tuesday, February 17th
Including a photo of the flower is also greatly appreciated if possible. Plants are often classified by flower color and plant size, so a photo is very helpful. If growing on a windowsill or under lights, please also indicate that. Also, if the flower is fragrant between mid-morning and mid-afternoon, let Christian know that.
Let’s have a great display that represents our members.
Do you have any bloomers you would like to contribute? Are you unsure or do you have any questions? Please contact Christian or Cheryl.
